Golf/Playing Background
I am a Winona Native. In my youth, I played highs school golf for Winona Senior High School. I am also a Winona State University Grad and played my college golf for WSU, and I am a WSU and NSIC Athletic Hall of Fame Member for my time playing at Winona State. While at WSU, I played in 6 National College Tournaments (two NCAA Division II events and four NAIA. At the time, WSU was transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II and we were eligible for both back in the day. My best finishes were 3rd Nationally for NCAA Division II and Runner Up for NAIA.) After college, I played for a few years seeing how far my game would go, with the goal of getting on the PGA Tour. I played in Regional Mini Tours (Dakotas and Prairie Golf Tour) as well as numerous area State Opens. I placed 3rd in the Minnesota State Open back in 2001. I also took three shots at PGA Tour Qualifying School in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Lately, I’ve just played my tournament golf in the Minnesota Section PGA events.
After trying to play a bit for a living, I became the Assistant Golf Professional at The Bridges GC, here in Winona(Formerly Winona Country Club). While in my position there, I received my PGA Education, graduating in 2010 with my Class – A Membership. As an Assistant Professional, I gave numerous lessons to numerous golfers of all ability levels, men and women, and juniors. I was also in charge of the Junior Golf Program for The Bridges in my last few years working there.
2023 marks the start of my 8th season as the Head Golf Professional/Pro Shop Manager at Westfield GC. While at Westfield, we have increased the numbers in the Junior Golf Program each summer, and I have given numerous private and group lessons to golfers of all ability levels, being juniors, young adults, adults, seniors, both men and women. My approach is simple and focuses mainly on trying to improve impact, keeping things simple, and having fun playing golf. However, if you are more of a competitive golfer, my experience in playing some professionally has been very beneficial. One thing I have found out in my years of teaching is you never stop learning things in the golf swing, or about the game.
If you are looking to improve your golf game, I’m here to help!! Putting, Chipping, Pitching, Iron Play, Bunker Play, Fairway woods, and Driving. I’ve pretty much seen it all in my experience, so don’t be shy!! (I don’t bite!!) Lessons can run roughly 50 min to an hour in length.
